Characters That I Know Of

Ok, my aim is to learn 10 characters a day. Why? Well as I said I want to pick up the simple layman ability of 3000 characters, meaning just able to read the Chinese newspaper without struggling with a dictionary. So I did a calculation, if I learn 10 characters a day in 365 days minus some slack days or forgotten ones, I just might achieve 3000 characters in a year! Woohoo, that is to say now I am already 11 days late into 2008. So can I find 110 characters that I can recognize? I’m listing here as I go with the flashcard reader:

Ok why did I stop at 100? Well, I am about to give up flipping through thousands of characters. I’m seeing stars already. Anyway as I flip through, I found that there are many similar characters with just added stroke that has similar sound but different meanings. I hope as I learn on, the learning curve will become easier and easier. Soon I can read some children books I hope. As I stop at 100, I would need to catch up on 10 + 10 more characters tomorrow. As for the 100 above, I need to revise daily just to make sure I really recognize them, so far not too bad.

Till then, tomorrow I will work harder – either to find 10 more words I recognize or learn new words!
